What does your role involve, and what do you enjoy most about it?
My role spans a little bit of everything—from supporting municipal utility projects to working on residential developments—drawing on nearly 14 years with the company. As a member of the ownership group, I see my job as contributing meaningfully to our design consulting work while bridging the gap between our senior leadership and younger engineers and staff. What I enjoy most is mentoring our junior staff and helping shape them into confident, capable engineers, while knowing the work we do leaves a lasting, positive impact on the community I call home.
What is your favorite part of working with this team?
The people, without question. I work alongside coworkers who are smart, talented, and genuinely down to earth. There’s a level of trust and camaraderie here that makes collaboration easy and enjoyable—I truly feel like I could sit down and have a good conversation (or a beer) with anyone in the company. Being part of a team that supports each other and takes pride in doing good work makes coming to the office something I look forward to.
What do you like to do when you are not at the office?
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me outdoors—fishing, floating the river, hunting, snowmobiling, or spending time at my family cabin. I’m also a big fan of high‑quality food and enjoy unwinding by watching sports. Whether it’s time outside or time with family and friends, I like to make the most of living and working in a place that offers so much.
What has kept you at Nelson Engineering all these years?
What’s kept me at the company is the combination of place, people, and opportunity. Jackson is a great place to live and raise a family, and working alongside talented, down‑to‑earth coworkers makes every day enjoyable. On top of that, the company has continually given me opportunities to grow my career and take on new roles, making it an easy place to stay and invest long‑term.
