Structural engineering is a specialized field of the general practice of civil engineering. Structural engineering encompasses many forms and portions of structures—foundations, retaining walls, building skeletons, and bridges are examples. Commonly the structural design is a hidden but vital part of the finished project. Sometimes, however, its results are exposed to dramatic effect (think Golden Gate Bridge, Hoover Dam, and the Chrysler Building).

Nelson Engineering has provided structural engineering services over the entire life of the firm and has a wide and varied body of constructed work. Our structural engineers ensure that their designs satisfy design intent predicated on safety, code compliance, and serviceability.
